Workshops & Day Retreats 2026
I create my art in response to the coloured earth at my feet, working in tune with the seasons, inspired by the beautiful geological formations around me. My paintings begin from a place of free and loose expression before the hand of the artist gently guides the way. My workshops provide the opportunity to learn about natural earth and botanical colour and always have a sense of flow and playfulness at their heart.
Many of my workshops relate to the seasonal shift of the year and occur on dates that signify a period of change as the seasons progress. The sights, sounds and scents of the season as well as the earth itself all have their part to play. In our increasingly busy and demanding world it is good to take some time out to reconnect with nature, to slow down and become more grounded. My earth colours are a beautiful means with which to do this.

Sonya and I are hoping to offer this again later in the year.
Sonya discovered an authentic connection with clay from an early age, then through her Ba (Hons) at Bristol Bower Ashton (1995); to a later MFA (Ceramics) in 2023, she came to answer the question ‘Can Ceramic Vessels Become Activators For Well-Being’.
Her desire to make full-time, initially arose from her teaching role as ceramics specialist at Clifton High School, and this lead to her work being aired on National TV, ‘The Great British Menu’ and ‘Love Your Weekend’ hosted by Alan Titchmarsh. Her nature inspired ceramics are exhibited at national shows, select galleries across the UK and she offers ‘Making and Mentoring in Nature’ and ‘Biophilia & Creativity’ workshops. As both a Reiki Master Teacher and Master in Fine Art, she permeates her ceramic creations with universal life force energy. This enables a harmonising effect, so her vessels can be used as conduits for well-being, mindful contemplation and emotive pieces of functional ware for interior spaces.
Susannah is a land inspired artist living near the coast in North Somerset. Using natural earth, mineral and botanical pigments, her paintings express her deep connection to her landscape and celebrate the beauty of natural colour.
The view across the Severn Estuary, the rock formations along the coast, the pebbles at her feet and the markings within them are her inspiration; but even more so are the pigments themselves.
The more she learns about the history and legend surrounding human interaction with pigments the more powerful they become. Her paintings provide access to a world of beautiful natural harmony and a sense of wonderment at the vast array of colour that the soil at our feet can provide.
